Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker
My coffee maker doesn`t heat the water as well as it used to and doesn`t always run all the water through…?
It is an expensive drip-type with a stainless steel thermal carafe. Seven years old and I have been using tap water in it. Is the heating part of it corroded with deposits and is there a way I can clean it ?
Yes , it does make popping sounds while heating.
If you hear “popping” noises when it heats the water then you have mineral deposits built up on the heating element. The heating element acts as a distiller when you add water with minerals in it (tap, spring etc.) If the heating element has mineral build up, it will not work as well as when you purchased it. If it is a commercial brewer, do not run vinegar through it (you will have vinegar taste for about 20-30 pots)
