Why did Pyrex® discontinue making the famous coffee pots?
I inherited a Pyrex coffee pot from my mother, it made a great cup coffee and I used it to boil water for tea and cocoa. Due to age it broke, and I’ve seen a few on ebay, but I would love to buy a new one. But the company apparently doesn’t make them anymore.
Why would a company discontinue making a product that lots of people like using?
I remember one sitting on my grandmothers stove, always ready or holding freshly brewed coffee for the enjoyment of her visitors. They were quite romantic in their look and design. But, alas technology brought an end to those types of percolators. First there were the automatic drip percolators, which looked like a regular coffee pot only it was plugged into an outlet. Then the drip style coffee maker came along and with features such as an automatic shut-off, start timer, brew strength control, and even a temporary stop mechanism to pour a cup while the maker is still in the brewing cycle. Now,..with the capability to make a cup of “Joe” in a single serving using the microwave makes coffee so easy and simple that percolators are just antiques in the kitchens of today.
