thinking about opening a coffee shop. is there any tips from coffee shop owners out there?
i have a few ideas of what i want to do, like new drinks, design, policies, ect.
things i’m still not sure on like the brands of coffee to look for, the pros and cons of roasting your own coffee,
i love sumatra, and kona, but wasnt sure who roasted the beans.
approximately how much is all the equipment necessary to open/ minimal space you need to operate.
its going to be in a small town in southern california, where the only real competition would be starbucks. pfft. they claim to sell gourmet coffee. lol.
also what brands of espresso machines, blenders, ice makers, ect. fo you trust and that are reliable?
all these aspects i am unfamiliar with and would love some of your guys’ input

I would really love to be in a coffee shop that looks more like strarbucks. It is cozy and feels more like home. I am not really sure about coffee flavors, but I would recommend that you use a capresso espresso machine because it is a very durable and easy to use brand. What is the red plastic thing under the drip tray of Sunbeam Espresso coffee machines for?
I have two Sunbeam coffee machines with these things, and there is nothing in the manual for what they do.
The red thing is to indicate when the drip tray is too full. When there is too much water it will pop up and it means the drip tray has too much water and you need to empty it.

The best way of maintaining marble’s overall cleanliness is with lukewarm water, a soft cloth and an occasional wipe down with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. The marble should be thoroughly wiped dry after such cleaning. If you like, a light coat of wax can be applied for further protection, but this is entirely optional, since marble will not gain additional luster from wax the way wood does.
Marble differs from most other stones because it is extremely porous. In other words, it allows dirt and stains to set in and be retained far more easily than denser stone. Also for this reason, it cannot withstand most conventional cleaning mediums – especially harsh detergents and acids.
Remember that marble has a slightly unstable chemistry and is quite delicate. Calcium carbonate (which is what marble basically consists of) will immediately and dramatically react with any kind of acid, resulting in pitting and scarring.

I am on the hunt for a coffee table, but because I’m in a very small space, it need to be something which adapts. I need it to be able to fold flat in order to be able to be stored behind an Ikea Solsta couch (it’s a sofa bed). There are many folding tables available at walmart,target, rite aid, cvs, and sams and in your price range. They are oblong in shape and are adjustable in height. You would probably want to use a tablecloth for appearance sake to cover up the plastic look. There is a cheaper way to get a coffee table. You need to buy a piece of plexiglass(available at Lowes ,Home Depot etc.) the width and length that you want.This will be the top of your table & when not in use it is thin enough to go any place. Now all you need are supports for your table. You can use one large planter in the middle or 2 smaller ones at the ends. Or what my sister did is she used some books and made two stacks putting the books with the most interesting covers on top and then put the plexiglass on top of that. This last idea was seen in a decorating magazine .
