Colour, and shape for coffee/end table?

I have just finished updating my living room. Rather than the common love seat and sofa, we went for 2 sofas in a mocha colour micro fibre. I have two mission chairs on either side of our fire place that are black. An expresso sofa table anchors a picture behind one sofa and a bench (that I can use for additional seating) anchors a big black framed mirror. One sofa is facing the fire place (east) the other faces south.
They are not pushed against the wall.
The legs are visible and are a medium brown wood. My question is what size and shape and colour of coffee/end tables do I use. I don’t want glass tops. I haven’t purchased an area rug yet, but plan to in the future. Do I go black or brown, round, square or oblong. I’m so confused.

I personally would go with a black oval table (or black-brown). They are classic, functional and would go with most decor. Also, with the black chairs, I think that might help tie things together!
