Coffee machine w/ bean hopper & grinder?

I am looking to purchase a good drip coffee brewer that also contains a built-in bean grinder. I have a grinder currently but, as messy as it is, so long as I am buying a new machine I want one that has the entire operation built-in.

Cuisnart is a good brand for home use that has the grinder feature. You can pick them up for a little less than a hundred. Still have to do some extra cleaning of the grinder in between uses. The Starbucks Brand Dehlonghi is very similar but cost a lot more with little or no additional features.

However with that said I still believe the easy and less effort is to grind your own then transfer it to a brewer. It will still be less work due to the fact on both brewers water gets in where the grinders are causing one to do lot of extra cleaning.

If you want great coffee at home the Bunn wins hands down. fast brewing time and the coffee is hot. They extract well and cost around 150.00.

If you want great tasting coffee; try prewetting your coffee after putting it in the filter and inside the brew basket. Let this set . This causes a chemical reaction that will give you a coffee house taste. The commercial brewers at Starbucks and other highend coffee shop have this feature built in to ensure this beginning process. A few of the bunn brewers and Fetco brewers for home use does this as well.

Coffee Beans – How long to grind for drip coffee maker?

I recently joined Seattle Coffee Direct and received coffee beans and Cuisinart coffee grinder. I always just bought ground or ground it using the machine at the grocery store. So, I need advice. How many coffee beans do I put in for a pot of coffee? How long do I grind it to get the right grind for my drip coffee maker? How long do I grind for my percolator (yes, I have one of those too).

I have a different grinder, so you might need to experiment with yours. I almost fill the grinder cup (leave some room), and grind while counting to 10. This makes just a little more than enough coffee for a 10-pot coffee pot. This is drip. I haven’t used a perc in a long time! Hope this helps.

Why am I able to tolerate only one brand of coffee (see details)?

I buy my coffee beans in 2-lb bags direct from Henderson Coffee factory (Henderson only distributes their coffee to casinos and restaurants, not stores). I have tried most brands of coffee and they tear up my throat (I have acid reflux), but Henderson Coffee never has done that; in fact, it’s like drinking water. Do you think it is because Henderson doesn’t put preservatives into their coffee beans?

Different coffees have different levels of acidity, so they may be using beans that are naturally lower.

You can expand your choices of coffee flavor by using the second link about cold brewing. I do this for my wife who doesn’t like regular coffee.
