Stove Top Coffee Percolator

When using a stove top percolator?
To make coffee, how long are you supposed to let the coffee “perk” for?
Thank you.
Percolators don’t make good coffee, the coffee gets overextracted and burnt. Ends up bitter.
For a cheap, good coffee get either a french press or a stove top Moka pot. The french press makes great coffee & the Moka pot makes a good espresso. Water should only go through the grounds once.
